Basic Volunteer Information
For being on the volunteer team, and completing four 5-hr shifts of the gathering, volunteers will receive one full experience pass for Beauty in the Backyard, and access to volunteer/staff areas, bathrooms, parking and camping.
Every volunteer has the option to chose the time of their four shifts, first come first serve.
To ensure all shifts to be completed, we require a refundable deposit before the gathering (this is the same price as a full experience pass, in the form of a hidden volunteer ticket). If your Volunteer application is approved, you will make a "Volunteer Deposit and receive further instructions about scheduling your shifts.
After successfully completing your work shifts and getting signed off by a Mettā Staff member, you will be refunded your deposit ticket within 2 weeks after the event.
Available Roles:
Welcome Team:
First impressions are important! We welcome our guests with a smile, scan their tickets, provide appropriate wristbands and information, and offer merchandise to sell, as well as give away free sponsored gifts we have to share for participating!
Builder Makers:
Have you ever wanted to build something that is functional, interactive, artistic and meaningful? We've got access to recycled materials and resources and can use more help building things for the retreat! Join the Builder Makers to help us ensure a strong and creative foundation for this experience. This includes strike/break-down as well.
Stage Hands:
Want to get hands on with the sound and stage crew? You can learn skills and help out with the super rad performances all throughout the experience. A general understanding of sound, cables and lighting is preferred, but not required.
On-site Operations:
Do you enjoy being the boots-on-the-ground and making things happen logistically? Do you enjoy making sure all the right parts are in the right places? Would you be able to lead a team of people to coordinate things being done during the event? Join the on-site ops team to make it happen this year at Beauty in the Backyard.
Safety Creative:
We care for our community and take preventative measures to ensure the maximum safety at our retreat. We're looking for responsible people to support our staff, security, lifeguards and safety teams at Beauty in the Backyard.
Green Team:
We do our best to inspire sustainable living. But sometimes, some people still just seem to miss the recycling, compost and trash bins. Join the Green Team to help do our part to ensure a zero-waste experience and take care of the environment.
Decoration & Signage:
Do you absolutely love a good sign? Do you like being creative? Join the deco team to make beautiful art and high-quality signs to inspire and support the flow of a beautiful, life-changing and transformational experience.
Vibe Adjusters:
Our goal is to make smiles. Vibe Adjusters care for people by providing water, good-vibes and general assistance in different locations. (Entry/ Information/ Stages/ Roaming) You may get creative when providing support and encouragement at the retreat!
Street Team:
Do you like getting all your friends together to do things? Sharing life-changing events on social media? Are you good at promotion? We are all about sharing the good word creatively in-person and on the internet. Join us to help get the event seen by more people!
